The story behind the clothes

Growing up in Zimbabwe, I learned that fashion is more than clothing ; it is pride, identity, and celebration.

No matter the struggles people faced, whenever Christmas, New Year, church, or an event came around, people dressed up. You would see polished shoes, carefully chosen outfits, and faces glowing with Vaseline. For that moment, people felt confident, beautiful, and free.

I come from a small village called Zimunya, and seeing that transformation showed me the power fashion has within a community. One outfit can change how someone feels. It can bring confidence, joy, and even help people forget their struggles for a while.

In many places, fashion is not always seen as a serious career, which causes many creative people to stop chasing their dreams. But design shapes the world around us. The way we dress tells stories before we even speak.

I want my clothing to speak for me. I want people to see Zimbabwean culture in a modern way something traditional, stylish, and wearable every day. And for many people in the diaspora, clothing can also become a way to reconnect with home and identity.

Every piece I create is made with creativity, culture, and craft, while still being as affordable and accessible as possible. My hope is simple: to make people feel proud, confident, and connected through what they wear.

A customer once said to me, “I don’t feel British enough when I’m in the UK, and I don’t feel Zimbabwean enough when I’m in Zimbabwe. Sometimes I go through an identity crisis.”

That stayed with me because identity crises are deeper than people think. It is the feeling of not fully knowing where you belong, where you are understood, or where you are fully seen. They later told me, “When I wore the top you designed for me and walked into a room full of Zimbabweans, people instantly became warm towards me. They asked me my name, and for the first time in a long time, I felt like I belonged because my outfit communicated what I couldn’t.”

That reminded me that fashion is more than fabric. Sometimes clothing can express the parts of us that words struggle to explain.

This brand was created with consideration for people who exist between worlds those in the diaspora who may not feel fully British, fully American, or fully Zimbabwean. Clothing can reconnect people to who they are. What you wear can change your mindset, your confidence, and your sense of belonging. Sometimes all it takes is one outfit to remind someone of home.
